Since 1913

A landmark that keeps finding its way back.

General store, service station, post office, café. Onward has closed a few times over the last hundred years, and it has reopened every time. That's where the name “Comeback” comes from.

In 1902, just down the road, President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a tied-up black bear on a hunt guided by Holt Collier. A cartoonist drew the moment, a toymaker made a stuffed bear, and the world got the Teddy Bear.
